Solving distributed heat-exchanger models by the method of characteristics

This note describes a simple method for solving distributed heat exchanger models while preserving their distributed nature. The method is illustrated for the case of parallel flow exchangers, and a comparison of analytic and numerical results is given for a simplified case.
